ABOUT SUMMIT VIEW FARM TREE VARIETIES WHY CONTAINER GROWN? PLANTING & CARING PRICING DIRECTIONS OUR HISTORY CONTACT

Our trees have been grown in containers their entire life and have developed a superior root system, the key to a healthy tree. We used to grow trees in the field and then dig them out in the spring and fall, placing a piece of burlap around the root ball. This old fashioned balled-and-burlap method was cumbersome and resulted in tremendous destruction of the tree’s root system. Survivability was mediocre. A balled-and-burlap tree will spend the first several years of life in its new home re-growing the small feederroots that were destroyed in the balling process, resulting in very little top growth.

Over the last ten years we have perfected a proprietary method of growing evergreen trees solely in containers, thereby developing a superior root system that will result in a healthier tree that will grow faster than a similarly sized balled-and-burlap tree. Our trees will immediately reestablish themselves upon planting and have a healthy growth spurt the following spring. Don’t be fooled by growers who have investments in outdated and inferior growing methods. Container-grown plants are superior and have higher survival rates.
